    It's a known fallacy my friend. Some people work it out (illegally!) with square roots, that makes it harder for people to spot

    a=1
    b=1
    a*a=a*b
    a^2=a*b
    a^2*b^2=a*b-b^2
    (a+b)*(a-b)=b*(a-b)
    (1+1)*(1-1)=1*(1-1)
    2*0=1*0
    0=0
    thats the correct way

    => two can never be one
    here's the trick
    (a b) (a - b) = b (a - b) => (a b) = b
    naturally i divide by (a - b) both sides to get (a b) = b
    which is perfectly LEGAL if and only if (a - b) not equals 0

    as a = 1, b = 1,
    => (a - b) = 0

    so!!! 2 not equals 1
    (yes, dissapointing)

    BUT you can still show your friends and "prove" that 2 = 1

    trust me most people wont catch on...
    and remember that they are not allowed to divide by zero

    its nice to tell people u show the secret, you wouldnt want them to go arround thinking 1 = 2, or would you? mmm, its up to you.
