Lower household water bills by 40 percent

In a world where going "green" is top-of-mind, it's surprising to discover that many homeowners are unaware of a proven way to save water and money. According to a 2007 survey conducted by the Propane Education & Research Council (PERC), 63 percent of homeowners say they are not familiar with tankless water heaters. However, after learning about the water-saving and cost-saving benefits of these on-demand water heaters, nearly two-thirds of homeowners (64%) say they are likely to consider making the purchase in the future.

Tankless water heaters lower operating costs and never run out of hot water because they heat water as you need it instead of storing it in a tank. Tankless water heaters can lower household energy bills by up to 40 percent, a benefit that 48 percent of homeowners say is the most important reason to consider purchasing a gas tankless water heater. Another 16 percent of homeowners say the fact that this technology saves the average American family 10-20 percent of its daily water use is the most important reason to consider purchasing one.

  • This is a GREAT concept!!

Already used in EVERY home in South Korea, obviously in the area where this is filmed propane is piped to the houses rather than Natural Gas but these tankless water heaters are available for both Propane AND natural gas.

CO2 is saved because unlike a tanked water heater these only burn when you press the "hot water" button, all other times the pilot light is off. This means that zero gas is used and no carbon exhaust is produced until you need the hot water.

  • Nice idea...

But, how big is the propane tank? How often does it need replaced? Can a standard tank that can be purchased or exchanged at many retail stores in America that is used to propane grills be used in this application? Or is a giant 8 foot tank needed like those used in applications outside of city gas range?
