    • Just purchase $1.99 infra red LEDs from

Radioshack. why damage a nice remote control??

      By Snoppy_First 1201810478
    • because...

it's way cooler to make something out of an ordinary objects than buy simple parts. but yea, practically speaking, i'd just buy the LEDs if i were to make this too

  • Awesome!

    I gotta have this!

    By REDMATRIX 1198146466
  • great idea!!

but wouldn't it be the same if you attach a regular flash light to the camera in order to see in the dark?

    By lazcan 1198049397
    • No

the point of using the infrared lights is that they are invisible to the human eye. So only the camera can see them.

      By Distracted 1198114018
    • No

Most camcorders have a night vision mode. If you use a regular flashlight it will white out everything. The IR will still illuminate the area and its great if one wants to be concealed.

      By vidar808 1198056764
  • I made this

I made the flashlight, but then i realized i don't have a camcorder, so i just walk aimlessly through the dark with my flashlight.........it was fun until i found the stairs:)

  • I'll Do it this weekend!!

I will be on the Do-It-Yourself High all week when I get this project done. The competition in this house for techno ideas that out do the last one is the paste and glue of our romance.

    By Xpedient 1206614684
  • Like Kipkays...

But more lightweight and convenient. Although, it doesnt seem to light much up... or differ between a regular flashlight ¬_¬

I can see blue light.. how is that invisible?

    By dragonfly69 1203498519
    • Wrong

they are invisible to the naked eye but through a device such as a camera you can see them take a video camera and press a button on the remote you can see the light through the camera but not without

      By drake08 1204163697

    By Killer07 1202874247

  • 940nn

The LEDs in controllers are 940nn the best are 850nn :) buy em from ebay.

    By ComputerGnome 1202048775
  • bullshit

that is complete bs, for one, when you put the IR LEDs into the flashlight and turned it on, you wouldn't be able to see the light except vaguely at the bulb, and it would be a red color. second, it will show up slightly red on film. try this guys, take your remote in a dark room, turn on your digital camera, point it at the camera and hold down a button. see what it looks like

    By skoalsoldier 1201607300
  • quite fun

But to all of you that cant solder (like me for example :) ), there is easier way, buy some cheap IR flashlight on dealextreme (they have it)

    By azotyp1 1200997023
  • Cool idea

Especially if you can find those things laying around the house.

    By blakeness 1200615538
  • what

    "saddering iron"??

    By ciscowes69 1199425279
  • cool but...

i can just tape a flash light to a camcorder and call it night vision

    By darthdarth4 1199424086
  • great video

    liked this hack, nice job
    5 stars

    By kramatv 1199367078
  • hey

    are u russian?

    By pkpkkiller 1199356397
  • this is stupid

those led's dont provide enough light for seeing anything give me a break, and using magic marker to color the flashlight wtf lol luzer

    By thick_rick 1199272601
  • Cool

That really works. BUT it isn't true night vision. True night vision actually amplifies available light. Plus, you can buy a simple IR flashlight.

    By lowcostvideos 1198799564
  • how far

would the light reach? like 10 feet or what?

    By ramiia 1198656013
  • cool

    :)

    By cookie_monster 1198577119
  • nice!

very cool but wat is that thing u used to remove the infra red light bulb?

    By s3s 1198508447
  • $10???

A flashlight, a remote, oh and a camcorder...For $10. Where do you go shopping?!

    By pieisgood 1198258134
    • yeah

      you are an idiot pieisgood

      By spinsterfinster 1201424306
    • uhhh

Its an addon that costs $10. Think a free Ipod hack includes the Ipod? Just let it go, 10dollars will just about buy you a mini flashlight, and you prob have an old remote laying around

      By Zerorider13 1200453095
  • ??w

what do u mean only u can see it and others can't? u mean only through the camecorder right?

    By DaCrM 1198162995
  • Cool

nice job and quality video 5 star
    thanks

    By feho 1198108891
  • cool

where do u get your music from, or do u just make it

    By T2024ut 1198097780
  • asshead

    videocameras allready include nightvision

    By pedroskys 1198087167
    • Mr Asshead

We know this. But the camera's night vision illumination is low, and near focused. This hack gives you the potential to illuminate better, farther, and controlled. :)

      By REDMATRIX 1198146438
    • thank you

im happy you understand and apreciate my work !

      By akamakavely 1198149792
  • Pretty good...

but just doesnt have the range I'd like out of a useable night vision decive. Check out my channel for a similar device I made with a CVS camcorder and integrated, high power IR LED's.
