The reason...
The kid is so calm is becasue he is too young to comprehend what has actually happened. A kids mind in only in the present. Their brain is not developed to process the past or the future. Thats why our memories of childhood are so precious. We just enjoyed the moment and didn't worry about anything.

Sadly, this incident will hit the kid later on in life.
