Escape Rescue System

this thing you see in movie clips that fire burst out of the window does not happen in real life. nothing can be burned outside the window, what does happen is lots and lots of smoke comming out, but it is not a threat to this system. the only threat is if the building itself might collapse, or panic inside the building when people who needs to wait for their turn go bezerk.

uh yeah thats the point bub- the fire alarm goes off and people escape the building before the fire escalates that far. . . Guess you weren't really thinking were you?

If I had to listen to that music all the way down while fearing for my life.. I would get pretty annoyed :-)

possibly long ropes tied to other buildings. People could swing to other nonburning buildings!

the twin towers are an extreme case. it prob wudnt work on buildings as big as the twin towers because think about how long the cables would have to be. Its a good idea for smaller buildings tho, as long as every1 doesnt use them rather than the stairs and only people who are trapped.

Most towers these days (at least in Hong Kong) have window washing platforms that go from the top of the buildings to the ground, and several of them. For example, the IFC 2 tower has 6-8 of these platforms that could be repurposed automatically. My question would be whether the WTC had such a window cleaning system in place.

I guess you have to put alot more then one elevator/ crane as there are also alot more people. In a normal building you'd probably have one on each windows line, so you can save a lot more people and not only few from 2 floors, and then if some systems get unusable there are other.

the dog wouldn't have stopped in the woods to take a S**t ? he would have caught the rabbit. nothing is perfect. this is just another tool that emergency personel can use to help evacuate a building.

NonPlusUltra has a very good point dyhgfdh. There are so many things that could go wrong with this system. What is needed in cases of fire is a universal tool that will be usable in pretty much any circumstance of fire. If this tool was intensely researched I would be reasonably sure the inventor could solve any issues that it has. In the event of building collapses, if the building collapses while evacuating people, not alot could be done to save the people in either the building or the safety device, in any building collapse, unless people got out before the building collapsed, anyone still inside it are either going to be burried or dead.
