The shown regulator is a 7812, good for 12 volts.
I think you need a 7805 for 5 volts

  The 7805 from Radio Shack is definitely what you want. The 7812 is being put to another use, which I hope to show you all soon! ;)

Apparently it looks simple but it not as simple as it looks!
Guys! I am sure all of you had a problem of cellophane charge drop some where, same like me. Never miss any call some where, just use this method.
Cool way for charging dude :)
Even he thought about safety and showed you to keep it inside a cassette box not to make a short circuit!

Learning Electronics
Ok I know this may be the wrong place to post this but hey...why not. I saw this video from digg.com and thought it is a great idea. I want to learn basic electronics and soldering for personal use and fun projects such as this one. I am legally blind, not totally blind but impaired. Where should I start for basic learning and how? I am a beginner so do I start with theory of how thing ork or soldering or what? Thanks for the help.
