It seems everyone tries but get this wrong? I have found the perfect proportions. So no more glue balls. This isn't slime. This video is my recipe for making a silly putty like substance. I am a chemist and it works perfectly. It is a polyvinyl acetate polymer. Metric measurements 25mL glue, 20mL water, 15mL Borax SolutionNo matter how many times I do this, I never get bored making it. It acts like snot but it isn't sticky. It flows like slime but isn't greasy. The best part is you can make this "Silly Putty Like" substance at home. All you need is the Borax (Sodium Borate) and Glue.
so, wht does the paper say 20mL, 15mL, and 25mL,
but the step by step directions all say 1/4 cup?
which one is right?
but if i want it to be more stiff what should i do?
By preciousrock 1232428596 Reply Spam [+1] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removepolystyrene beads to it, whatever size you prefer, you'll end up with a product called "FLOAM". And that of course can be molded into any number of shapes.
Google for a recipe for homemade floam .
Most kids love it.
But some do-gooders believe borax is toxic.
Borax is not toxic ... infact its used as medicine and many more things.

Kent, do you have any idea how to make exercise putty similar to Theraputty? I live in a third-world country and can't find it here.
Thanks!
if only Ghostbusters came out sooner.. HE GOT SLIMED!
great video, what is the song?

By DrGee 1203717766 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveYa this is Slime/Gak etc, its nothing like silly puddy.. Silly puddy is more like playdoh and hard but pliable
By hbsteve 1202629922 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removeyou didn't make silly putty, you made that slime stuff. Silly putty isn't shiny.
By AD2012 1202463063 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removeits a bit to liquidy
By ocarinaluva 1201557480 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveWhat kind of glue you use, there is clear liquid glue and then the white one used on tree mostly .... does the cemical blend need some ingreedient to be the right one.
By differentnick 1200547273 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveWhere do ya normally use borax and can you buy it from normal supermarket or so?
By Nojaahas 1199889139 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removeat your local home depot. It's cheap there, too, and comes in huge boxes.
By weaselhead 1200918271 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveI found it at the local grocery store (ACME) in the laundry aisle. 20 Mule Team Borax. And its cheap!

By AnGiE bAbE 1246585278 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removecool video :-D
we did something very close to this in my HazMat class. It is fun to play with, but ours must of had different proportions because after a while it turned completely solid. About the texture of a bouncy ball.
By 99turbosaab 1198679974 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveAs the name implies, the original product is a putty-like substance. This creation would better be likened to Gak. We got to make this in our junior high science class long ago, and I always thought it was neat that such simple ingredients could be used to make something people used to make money off of.
By RickyTheFish 1198378060 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveHave you done a video demonstrating a Newtonian liquid? That would be cool to demonstrate in a classroom setting.
By RickyTheFish 1198378119 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveSorry... I mean NON-Newtonian liquid.
By RickyTheFish 1198378391 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removebut what is Borax? is it an american brand of something? or a compound?
'20 Mule Team' is just a brand of borax. Borax is a powder detergent.
By weaselhead 1200918368 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removein the detergent aisle
By mangoman07 1200630981 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveBorax (also known as Sodium Borate) is not a brand of anything, but rather a boron compound. It is available here in America, usually to use for laundry or cleaning.
