I saw the whole documentry on TV, and because he couldn't move his wife had too feed him, and feed him, and... I couldn't help but wonder while watching, why is she doing this. Unless of course she took out a pretty hefty life insurance policy.

but: I think there is a case for hospitals just leaving people like this to die. I know the States is different as you pay for health care. But in the UK if you're just gonna take the piss and just F**k your body up and then expect the tax payer to pay for the thousand of pounds of surgery when you could have just: stopped eating so much, given up smoking, not drunk a bottle of gin before you got in the car etc you should be treated differently to someone who didn't knowingly contribute to their illness.

Tough S**t buddy you made a choice to make yourself ill eating 400 burgers a day - so you sort it out (wonder if anyone died in a house fire while those firemen were takng his house apart). Its like having car insurance and then leaving your car unlocked. They won't pay out.
It wouldn't work though for lots of reasons: its immoral lol. Where do you draw the line - if you get injured doing an extreme sport is that your fault?? Plus losing weight, quiting smoking etc whilst being easy choices in the head are clearly hard to succesfully carry out.

He's all alone in the world ( i.e. nobody loves him, and he hates it, so he chose food to keep himself company ) But no. I still hold my ground in what i say... getting that big has to do with how you choose live your life. However, it also has to do with family history ... For instance ... I'm a 6'3" 160lb man who can eat anything all day for weeks sitting around doing nothing and not gain a pound , while i have friends who can just look at food and gain five pounds... It all has to do with life style and family history... that's why heart attacks are more common in people who's parents or grand- parents have had a history of them.

A psych problem can be an illness. He can't be all alone in the world, somebody was feeding him.

I'll give you that, and yes, someone had to have helped him because he was way to big for his hand to reach his mouth. However, he should have had enough self control to tell them to stop, or just to not eat it.
