Jesus Christ - Christmas

Christmas is just another in a long list of Pagan holidays stolen by the christians with the aim of coercing those same Pagans to keep up the the new religion that was forced on them.

see my comment to Frank. Just because Christmas took the place of saturnalia does not mean that Christianity itself is wrong. Jesus is so different simply because he was NOT religious - but showed us the only way to be reconciled God, through his sacrifice - and the ideal way to live.

But like all such good ideas, the people that eventually come to rule,(Yes rule, NOT lead) find themselves exempt from their own rules, and the most brainwashed of the sheep, I mean well meaning followers, is to try and force everyone else to see it their way. So, as usual in all well concieved utopias, everyone loses.

You sound like the Spanish inquisititors during the inquisition. "You have to follow Jesus!!!" It is just that kind of single-minedly oblivious mentality that will ensure that there will always be violence in the world.

I understood you don't believe in Jesus. That is your right. We are absolutely free. What I wanted to say is that religion and "things of men" always lead to dewath, slavery and what it is worst in the world. I wanted to say that for me Jesus is freedom. I don't follow any pastor or whatelse only the Bible. Maybe I could be wrong but I prefer to believe in Jesus. Bless You

Maybe it's time to take organized, institutional religion out of the public, and put it back into the individual home where it can no longer do any harm. If every one believes what they want to believe INDIVIDUALLY, then there will be no more religious violence.

Unfortunatly, men being men, one man will think his way is better and force his way on his neighbor. Then whole neighborhoods will be "Converted". Soon we will be back where we are now. Running through the streets of our neighbors telling them to believe as we do or die. As long as religion is allowed to be a public, group phenonemum, there will always be violence.

It was the church that deified him 400 years after his death. So, we are back to the same problem. People are still the issue. It took over 100 people from dozens of christian sects, and a pagan roman emporer to sift through thousands of texts, to decide what they as men in power, thought would make the faithful follow blindly. They INVENTED chrisianity as it stands from whole cloth.

Yes, I understand that there is as much proof to support your side as there is to support mine. But, in religion as in war, history is written by the victors. The only truly neutral and un-biased are the atheists and the swiss.

If you look throughout history, in every theocracy (my fellow Americans will have to look that word up) anyone that does not agree with the religious party line winds up persecuted. See the inquisition, the crusades, the bible belt, need I go on. And with Dubya trying to turn THIS country into a christian version of all those muslam countries, then yes, those of us that have an alternative belief system are better off being quiet.....and safe.

but your are speaking of persecution made by men. Most of all done against real believers in Christ. Should be nice if in this world there was theocracy, the real one. Whorshipping God and Christ for what they've done. Amazing!!!!

Theocracy means a society ruled by the church. It has nothing to do with worship. It is church as government. Iran is a theocracy. Is that what you want, conform or die. I sure don't. Religion has out-lived its usefulness.

REAL theocracy. God in command.
