The labels Maegde und Knechte/ Elternhaus design provocative outfits, which combine fashion with contemporary German history. Jackets and t-shirts display Prada Meinhof writing with the machine gun logos of the seventies terrorists. Black balaclava masks are decorated with the words ‘kid’s birthday’ or ‘Waldorf school’. Shirts with a dog silhouette and the words ‘Mein Kampf’ are sold out. Maegde und Knechte only do limited editions. They have German celebrity customers like Marius Mueller Westernhagen and Herbert Groenemeyer and cool British style evangelists like Sleazenation as their customers. The headquarters of this artist’s designer collective is based in Hamburg. Their Berlin outlet has got no fixed opening hours. ‘The store is open, when it is open’.
