Berlin's Timo Pritzel seems to have been born on two wheels. He focused on BMX races until he discovered jumping. At King of Dirt contests, bikers jump artistically - and riskily - over metre-high dirt ramps. In 1998 Timo became World Champion at this discipline, and set a world record for BMX high jump - 5.10 metres. Timo and his dirt mates train in a secret spot in the north of Berlin. The facilities ‘on the trails’ can be used from May until September – but only with permission from the dirt fanatics. You can get information about the trails at Search & Destroy on Oranienstrasse, Berlin’s best skate shop.
