visual music composed using voltage controlled video synthesis. Chasing waves is an edited version of a real-time improvisation recorded in the Experimental Television Centre NY using 80’s analog technology. Voltage controlled oscillators generate audio which manipulates scan lines passed through a Jones Colourizer, designed by Dave Jones for the E.T.C. in 1980.

Chasing waves refers to the search for those sonorous audible frequencies which form the most interesting patterns, creating a harmonious balance between sound and vision.

A metaphoric search for a place of tranquillity free from the extraneous noise of contemporary life, like watching an electronic version of the patterns created by waves lapping along a sea shore, constantly changing but always the same.
