This clip is from the new tv series "John Adams." George Washington takes the first Oath of Office for President of the United States of America. I took the liberty of adding the tune "Hail to the Chief" in the video.

"I, George Washington, do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the office of President of the United States, and I will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States."

Commander in Chief.

  • This is one of the ...

This is one of the finest historical series since Band of Brothers from HBO. This clip is certainly one of my favorites, never in my movie experience have I come across such a realistic looking and authentic version of what the first Presidential inauguration must have been like. David Morse (Washington) and Paul Giamatti (Adams) do an excellent job portraying such vital figures in our past.

  • You seem obsessed ...

You seem obsessed with the soldiers. Only ~5,000 have died. America lost over 55,000 in Vietnam and ~400,000 men in WW2. The only thing we will have to worry about is tens of thousands of wounded and a bigger healthcare bill for them. Stop trying to make it sound like it's the end of the world cause a few jarheads VOLUNTEER to fight over there.
