The Montana Grizzlies are going back to Chattanooga.

Top-seeded James Madison could not overcome four lost turnovers and one injured star quarterback to the fourth-seeded Montana Grizzlies. Montana notched a 35-27 victory over the Dukes and advance to their sixth appearance in the NCAA Football Championship Subdivision title game.

Griz running back Chase Reynolds ran 26 times for 123 yards and two touchdowns while adding a receiving touchdown on three catches for 50 yards. Quarterback Cole Bergquist completed 11 of his 17 passes for 142 yards and three touchdown passes. Montanas defense created four turnovers — three fumbles and one interception — while holding the Dukes to 27points, 12 below JMUs average.

  • I really don't ...

I really don't understand all the hostility. Montana played well and JMU turned the ball over and thus Montana won. I was at this game and at the championship in 2004, and had nothing but positive experiences with the Montana fans.

Bottomline is the FCS playoffs determine a legitimate champion unlike the bullshit BCS system. The best teams went to the finals in 2004, and the better team won (GO DUKES). And the best teams went to the final this year, and the best team won.

  • Haha, you guys make ...

Haha, you guys make me giggle like a school girl.

Three of the turnovers were due to poor ball handling on JMU's part. Hate to say it, but they choked in this game. I'm not sure if it was the national TV, semi-final game, or what; but they flat out choked. I'm not saying that Montana didn't deserve to win, but you didn't get their best game by a long shot.

  • no, we just don't ...

no, we just don't understand how someone so ignorant can spew there ideas about the internet. how can you say that we only forced one of the turnovers? all three, count it three, fumbles were forced by strips or big hits. and how can you say our defense played poorly? Four turnovers, and holding a very good team to 27 points is a great effort. We straight up outplayed JMU and, as a result, won the game and are going to the title game. Fool

  • They showed that ...

They showed that play on Sportscenter for about 3 days straight after the game and the tip of the ball did cross the goal line. Dudzig was in.

And the "turf was bad" excuse has always been a very poor excuse. You think that didn't effect both teams?

  • Montana fans feel ...

Montana fans feel the same way about 2004 and that shoddy joke of a turf.

I don't know how you can't say Montana didn't win it, they wer e one bad snap away at 35-17 from making it a complete and total blowout on JMU's home turf.

BTW your offense could not stop Montana's for the life of them.

  • Both defenses ...

Both defenses played very poorly. If JMU hadn't turned the ball over so much the game probably would have ended up being a shoot out since neither defense was able to accomplish anything.

  • JMU had a great ...

JMU had a great team...but every turnover the Griz had were forced. Hard hits and perfect tackles cause fumbles. It's not like JMU fumbled snaps or handoffs. Besides the first series with the backup, JMU's O didn't miss a beat.

  • The point is JMU ...

The point is JMU didn't play their best game, and made many uncharacteristic mistakes (4 turnovers doesn't happen often with the Dukes). And of those turnovers, there was only one that was really forced by the Griz; the impressive interception near the endzone. And even with the four turnovers and the best player being out of the game, JMU still managed to almost rally a comeback. It'd be interesting to see a best of 7 series between the two.
