  • Tyson is the best ...

Tyson is the best scientist to help humanity realize the truth of things around us. He is kind enough to explain certain discoveries and not say since I have this information your completley wrong. He accepts all possibilitys andaccepts all people for what they believe in no matter what his view is on things. He is an example of how every human should be.

  • It was, of course, ...

It was, of course, a lie what you read about my religious convictions, a lie which is being systematically repeated. I do not believe in a personal God and I have never denied this but have expressed it clearly.
    Einstein 1954

A man's ethical behaviour should be based effectually on sympathy, education, and social ties and needs; no religious basis is necessary. Man would indeed be in a poor way if he had to be restrained by fear of punishment and hope of reward after death.

hi interesting video, but it missed the step which explains where the primeordial clay and pools of hot water came from. this was my origional point about nothing+time. evolutionary theory is interesting but can not give an explanation for the begining only theory for what happened after. had to reply here as no trace of comments on you tube. bye for now

  • Religion just isn't ...

Religion just isn't for me. Maybe it's due in part to my personality---I'm skeptical of authority figures, for the most part. There may be a god but I see no proof so I'm not going to devote my life to something that doesn't exist.

My main problem is how people blindly use "faith" as a crutch. If you applied that logic to anything else in life, you wouldn't go far. "I have faith that I'll never get in a car crash so what's the need for insurance?" See how absurd that sounds?

  • While I think that ...

While I think that Dawkins is very intelligent, I don't agree with his "religion poisons everything" approach to promoting atheism.

I'm an atheist/agnostic who is more against fundamentalism within religions than the religions themselves. There are many religious people out there who don't cause problems.

  • If Dawkins were not ...

If Dawkins were not addressing atheists in an enabling and essentially arming manner (as he does so elequently) he would be missing a large part of his target audience - I think Tyson has not considered the typical atheist/militant atheist in his analysis.

  • Tyson is right here ...

Tyson is right here and Dawkins only proves his point by acting like a smart-arse brat as per usual. Not to mention he follows his normal method of response by replying with something completely unrelated to the point.

Tyson: "your method of rhetoric is more about impressing people with flashy speeches and watching them eat your words up than actually teaching anything."

Dawkins: "oh yes, i'm very witty. now allow me to distract you with a humourous quote and not actually face anything. ever."
