  • Hay, perhaps you ...

Hay, perhaps you are buffing them too shiny? You only need to go as low as a 180 grit file and then apply a thick coat of glaze and glo, they shouldnt be buffed to a shine, gosh smile lines!! A nail techs best friend and worst enemy! All i can say is practice!! I like to practice on my plastic nail tips, by sticking them to a nailpolish bottle with bluetac and then practicing my smile line, I also think you get the best look by only using one ball for your smile line hop that helps xx

  • in regards to ...

in regards to blending, any direction is fine as long as you avoid filing the natural nail, this will cause thining of the nail plate and will weaken both the nail and the enhancement. hope this helps xxx

  • hay, all i can say ...

hay, all i can say in regards to cutting, is practice practice practice!! Ive been doing nails for about 8 years and on the odd occassion i still cut too, but to help, try filing the edges of your files with another file, this 'blunts' the edge of the file, the area of the file most likely to cut skin, and most importantly if you do cut you must dispose of the file , it cannot be sanitised and reused.

  • Hi Chantelle, ...

Hi Chantelle, you're brilliant at doing nails! Fantastic job! I'm currently learning how to do acrylics, and one of my flaws is filing. I somehow cut my 'practice friends' cuticles and sides! (oops!) Any tips on how to stop doing this, but to still get good filing done around the cuticle and side wall areas? Also, which direction is the best way to file when blending in tips to the natural nail? Thank you heaps & congrats :)

  • Very well done!! ...

Very well done!!You're super fast and good!I passed my exam last year as a nail technician and still need loads of practice. After 15days i have lifting from the back part(cuticle area),can't improve =( When i saw your nails before doing the backfill they looked neat without lifting, i can't keep them for four weeks, they will become a disaster. But overall i make nice nails,Thanks for sharing and keep it up!!!!!

  • ..(continued p2 ).. ...

..(continued p2 )...I used to teach a nail course at a beauty therapy college, So I know how dificult it can be. I wouldnt suggest doing your own until you are trained, you can seriously damage your nails, however I too taught myself how to do my naills at your age, so I am trying to be open minded! If you are determined to do your own I can only suggest to you that you do as much research as possible!!

  • Hi natalie, I know ...

Hi natalie, I know it can be expensive to get your nails done but in Hindsight, it also has alot to do with health and safety and a professional service. If you really r wanting to do your own I would suggest training first, I know nails may seem really easy but there is so much involved!!
