  • Oil is not running ...

Oil is not running out. That is a falsehood that the left has tried to sell for years. If you want to see oil prices fall get the government out of the way of the oil companies. The government should stop taxing and meddling with the free market. Let us drill and built new refineries and nuclear power plants. That is realistic for America's energy needs.

  • Your wrong, it was ...

Your wrong, it was the Soviet Unions folly in afghanistan that bankrupted them they spent trillions trying to subdue an enemy armed with AK47 & RPG's, it was Carters funding of this that caused the breakup.
When eastern europeans countries started breaking away, the soviets did not have enough soldiers to enforce order leading to a domino effect.
Carter is embarassing because he will speak truth to power.

  • You nailed it in " ...

You nailed it in "oil is plentiful and cheap", IT IS NOT - China & India can afford to pay $200 a barrel, America cannot. The US has untapped reserves of less than 1 years domestic consumption. Carter foresaw 30 years ago what the rest of America realise today, Oil is running out fast and had action been taken 20 years ago, then we would be 20 years into a solution.

  • That arms race that ...

That arms race that you don't like is what tipped the Soviets over the edge. Carter was an embarrassment as a president. That is way Democrats don't honor him at their conventions. They talk about his house building but never about his presidency

  • There is nothing in ...

There is nothing in the foreseeable future that will replace oil. Now, that is just a fact. Whatever, you may want to believe oil is plentiful and cheap. As for nuclear we are better at managing it. Your thinking is the reason for $4 a gallon gasoline. Carter was a fool not a profit.

  • Everyone highlights ...

Everyone highlights the extra sweater quip, and forgets the rest. Oil is a finite resource it WILL run out, you can drill but the US reserves will only last 400-450 days of domestic consumption. After that you will be back to square one but worse off because you have no reserves.
The future is electric, Nuclear is an option but everyone knows the dangers and no one wants it in their backyard. Dont punish the the poor by building near their homes put them in the hamptons first make everyone risk

  • Carter signed the ...

Carter signed the laws that killed the soviets, his arming of the mujahideen in afghanistan led to the downfall of the soviets. Reagan started an arms race one that increased the nukes on both sides and now make Russia as dangerous as the Soviets 30 years ago.
The hostages where returned as Reagan took office after an accord was signed between Carter admin and the new Iranian regime.

  • We need more ...

We need more drilling and more nuclear power plants. Put let Jimmy tell it all we need is a big wool sweater. Face facts xdir: We dodged a bullet when we got rid of Carter.

  • It was Reagan who ...

It was Reagan who killed the Soviet Union not Carter. Carter accepted the status quo. Reagan demanded a winner to the cold war. I don't hate Carter because he stuck to his stupid policies; I hate him because he made America weak rather than strong. Reagan's peace through strength was the reason the hostages were returned. They were afraid of him - not Carter.

  • Has Carter EVER ...

Has Carter EVER moved from his Christian morality? the one constant is his belief.
Reagan supported Saddam even after saddam gassed the kurds, hows that for thug dictators.
Since when is supportin Israel a requirement? Israel has a better equiped/trained army than the US, it receives billions of dollars as aid & loans (that are subsequently written off) criticism of israel should be mandatory by all citizens.

  • It is because of ...

It is because of the policies of the left that oil prices are high. Instead of drilling for more domestic oil people like Carter want the price of oil high so as to force people into a European type life style. Carter wanted us to comport to circumstances and Reagan believed that American change circumstances to our favor. Carter's pessimism was not in the best tradition of American spirt.

  • Had America ...

Had America implemented Carters plan you would not be paying $4 for gas, it was Reagans weakness that made him scrap Carters policy and take the easy route of continued reliance on oil. The Fascism lies in the corporatism that followed the Reagan deregulation.

  • Carter was strong ...

Carter was strong enough to take on the soviets, he armed the mujahideen leading to the fall of the soviet union, Reagan only carried on Carters policy.
You hate Carter because he stuck to his morals, you want a President who moves with the populism not one who does the right thing regardless.

  • Carter was a ...

Carter was a dangerous, weak, pacifist who should have never seen the oval office much less occupy it. He didn't see any difference between the U.S. and the Soviet Union. You should thank God that his type of leadership was defeated. Reagan won in a landslide. Let him build houses; it is the one thing that he does best. But, keep him away from, and those like him (e.g. Obama) away from the Oval Office.

  • Yeah his energy ...

Yeah his energy policy was to tell American's to put on a sweater. Thank God Reagan rescued us from another 4 years of Carter's weak and facifist leadership.
