Ok, Thanks for helping out. My neighbour will renovate instead of a quick fix.
How about a video on installing an acrylic tub 60x30 alcove and then showing how to start the first set of tiles.

If I were doing a repair like that I would use a concrete-based board. Its not that much more expensive than plasterboard but will bond tile repair and protect wall from water penetration much better, even for a temporary repair.===Bob

Amazing! :) Very instructive. Do you have a video on how to cover a much larger opening in a drywall? I want to fill in a 23" x 40" opening, and I know I need to brace it in the back, to be able to fix such a big piece of drywall, but just not sure how to start... Any advice is highly appreciated. Thanks.

    HomeRemodelWorkshop,

Just finished patching a 4x8 inch hole using this technique. I used a 1.5 inch paper overlap all the way around. Thanks for the great video: it really helped!!

The finished product looks like it was professionally repaired. I'm the kinda guy who goes to Home Depot once a year, so you did a great job with the instructions. Thanks again, and ignore the idiots!!

I personally wouldnt go any bigger than 10by 10 and at that I would even make the paper lap 3 inches to get more grabbing strength. Also I would wait 24 hours before coating.Take your time flushing up perimeter---Bob

  • Is there a limit on ...

Is there a limit on how big the hole is for this method? I've got a hole behind wallpaper estimated to be 5"x5", the perimeter drywall is crumbling so I'd like to repair it with a 10"x10" piece. It is right near a corner as well so I'm not sure if this would work.
