    OATH OF THE NEW ADMIN:
I, as a network administrator, shall protect data. Protect it from corruption. Protect it from harm of confidentiality and manipulation. Protect it, so that we as the human race, shall keep our information personally perfect.
So, I pay homage to my friends, the protocols.

Yeah Einstein and it amplifies it too, why else would you need it if it didn't. Think of the concept.

  • Actually... It does ...

Actually... It does amplify the signal If the distance between the exceeds the distance allowed for that particular type of media the signal weakens the further it has to travel (known as Attenuation). The repeator does repeat the input, signal, 1's and 0's. whatever you want to call it and AMPLIFY them. If it only repeated them as you say, what would be the point. Perfect example of why it's important to klnow what you are talking about before posting a response like yours Qwerty. LOL

  • He didn't say a ...

He didn't say a repeater amplifies. He implied the analogous analog device would be an amplifier, which is correct, right?

If you had an opamp with enough gain to be operating at the rails no matter what, and it receives an attenuated signal which it then amplify it to the rails, you pretty much have a digital repeater, right?
