Dave working on a new plate experiences a strange malfunction when he changes travel direction on our shop's submerged arc welder. The weld if all went properly should have been about an inch wide, instead it ended up being about two and a half inches wide and had some undercut. The weld should have been performed at about 8 inches per minute but went around 1 to 2 inches per minute. Please excuse the sound quality, this was shot in the weld shop at my community college so lots of people using lots of machines.
Nah, no trouble, luckily this was done at a learning institute... We learned something :-D

Two cardinal rules of sub arc:
1) Always double check your ground.
2) Always double check your sensor cable.
ROFLMAO! Hahahahaha! Thanks guys, This made my day-hope you didn't get into too much trouble!

This caused the bead to be around three inches wide. Since this was an inter plate wend and not a cover weld, it caused about 1/4 inch under cut on both sides.
