    Yes, all that black smoke is unburned fuel. Once you get enough air in to even out the mix, it all burns and you get less smoke. Diesels can be tuned to run fast with little smoke. there have been drag race diesels and road race diesels built that don't smoke.

    a particulate filter would only be clogged with that much smoke and they also rob alot of power and rob mileage and would make the egts go way too high they are not good for modified diesels like these that are using this much fuel
