The GPO Uralvagonzavod Russian T-90 main battle tank is one the most advanced tanks in the world, with some 1,200 in active service.

The Russian military has confirmed the delivery of atleast 1 full battalion (94 tanks) each year. Some 2,000~ T-90 tanks are projected to enter service by 2011.

Combat history:
The T-90 first saw combat in Georgia as scatered reports came in post-conflict that 2 T-90s were involved in the Tskhinvalli liberation, it is believed now that 2 T-90s were resposible for as many as 13 Georgian tank kills.

Statistics:
The T-90 is fitted with a mixture of conventional steel armour plating, thick advanced composite armour and explosive reactive armor. The glacis and the centered low profile turret of the T-90 are covered by the third generation Kontakt-5 ERA giving it a thickness measuring around 1,455mm.
The T-90 is also equipped with the Shtora-1 counter-measure suit. This system includes two infrared jammers on the front of the turret, four laser warning receivers, two 3D6 aerosol grenade discharging systems and a computerized control system. The Shtora-1 warns the tank's crew when the tank has been 'painted' by a weapon-guidance laser and allows the crew to slew the turret to face the threat. The infrared jammer, the TShU1-7 EOCMDAS, jams the semiautomatic command to line of sight (SACLOS) guidance system of anti-tank guided missiles. The aerosol grenades can be used to mask the tank from laser rangefinders and designators as well as the optics of other weapons systems.

The T-90 promises to be the back bone of the Russian ground forces until 2025.
The T-95 will enter service in 2009 and will accompany the T-90 Vladimir into the future.
