  • correct. it ...

correct. it basically depends on your NIC (Network Interface Card). to get full gigabit (other than your internet speed) you need to have a 10/100/1000 TX or 1000BASE-T 1000=1000MBPS. most network cards are 10/100 BASE TX

LOOK HERE My color order is the way its supposed to be. Its the way you turn the connector that matters. If you have the release pin facing up you start with brown.
If you have the release pin facing down you end with brown.

Thanks for the reply, So to get true Cat6 you need everything to be Cat6 as far as cables and jacks correct. So if your laptop or PC just has a Cat5e jack a Cat6 cable won't make any difference.

  • incorrect. it ...

incorrect. it matters what order they are in because of the twist. if you do it random you could end up pairing opposite wires, increasting crosstalk and shortening length and reducing speed. there are 2 ways to pair it. The common way(T586B specs)is: White-orange, orange, white-green, blue, white blue, green, white-brown, brown.that is how they go in when the click tab is facing away. the other way (T586A spec) is different. go to wikipedia and search CAT 6 for it (in a chart near the end)

I have a 200 foot Cat 5 Cable. Can I cut this down and make a few 10 foot cables? Also I noticed you only had 4 wires and didn't cut the ends to expose the cable it self. Does just the tip connect with the cable connector?.
