Actually, if the lead FA feels there is need to evacuate, she/he can make that call. Just press the emer. button on the FAP and deploy those doors. I'm a flight attendant, and yes if the captain tells me not to evacuate, but I start seeing smoke in the cabin, for my safety and those on board, i'll start that evacuation, you never know what can happen, but yea if we feel necessary we can deploy even if the captain says to stay (he's not in the cabin, we are)

Man! thats why i'd never ever fly American(not that it cannot happen on any other airline), all they do is take your money and gulp it down their throats while they have have thier old stinkin half-destroyed aircrafts lagging people around the world not caring about their safety!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

thats crazy and scary i cant imagine the older people and un able to walk and handicap people aisle chairs people i work at the airport in chicago pushing people in wheel chairs and that would be scary
