    This is the same exact thing. The emulator runs EXTREMELY slow. I suggest doing this since it runs at full speed. But you do need custom firmware to do this.

    Put the files in the root of your mem stick. Make sure the .prx file and the popsloader folder is in SEPLUGINS on the root. Also make sure pops.txt is in there. Go into recovery mode and activate it. When loading a PSX game, hold down the R-trig.
