1983) The release of the single was accompanied by a quirky music video shot in the summer of 1983 and produced by Mother Studio in the Lower East Side of Manhattan. It cost less than $35,000, largely due to a volunteer cast and the free loan of the most sophisticated video equipment available at the time. The cast included wrestler "Captain" Lou Albano in the role of Lauper's father while her real mother, Catrine, played herself (Cyndi would later return the favor by guest-starring in an episode of the Super Mario Bros. Super Show, where she announces Lou is missing because of a letter he wrote her, with part of it torn off leaving out an important detail). Lauper's attorney, Elliot Hoffman, appeared as her uptight dancing partner. Also in the cast were Lauper's manager, David Wolf, her brother, Butch Lauper, fellow musician Steve Forbert, and a bevy of secretaries borrowed from Portrait/CBS, Lauper's record label.
Lorne Michaels (Broadway Video, SNL), another of Hoffman's clients, agreed to give Lauper free run of his brand new million-dollar digital editing equipment, with which she and her producer created several first-time-ever computer generated images of Lauper dancing with her buttoned-up lawyer, leading the entire cast in a snake-dance through New York streets and ending up in Lauper's bedroom in her home. The bedroom scene is a homage to the famous stateroom scene in the Marx Brothers' film A Night at the Opera.

Cyndi Lauper or Cynthia Ann Stephanie Lauper Thornton in real life, was born on June 22, 1953 in Brooklyn, New York, USA to parents Fred Lauper and Catrine Dominique. The young Cyndi went to a Catholic school and got kicked out after the school learned that her parents are no longer together. She went to four high schools before she received her honorary high school diploma from Richmond Hill High School in Richmond Hill, NY.
The young flamboyant Cyndi Lauper was accepted in a special public high school for the arts but would later drop out. This is when Cyndi Lauper's journey in the world of art began, which took her to Canada and back to the USA.
Cyndi Lauper saw the sacrifices women endure watching her divorced mother while supporting three children. Her mother was working then as a waitress. The young Cyndi Lauper knew that she had to turn things around for her. She finally found refuge in music. At the age of twelve, she studied guitar with her sister and writing lyrics. Green Sleeves is the first song she learned to play with a guitar.
Cyndi Lauper performed as a vocalist with various cover bands in New York in the mid 70's and which eventually break her vocal cords. Some doctors thought that it is beyond repair. She later proves them wrong when Cyndi formed a new band, Blue Angel, together with sax player John Turi after a full year of voice coaching with Katie Agresta. Now managed by Roger Massarky, Blue Angel released a self titled album under Polydor Records although the album sold poorly despite critical acclaim. Blue Angel broke up after sometime, leaving Lauper broke when she filed bankruptcy.
Cyndi Lauper worked at New York's high-end stores to support herself while still singing cover songs. David Wolff, who has become her partner and manager later found her at a local New York bar and this has become the start of her stardom. He introduced her as Cyndi Lauper. And the rest is history.
Cyndi Lauper became one of the biggest stars of the 80's. The 80's was always regarded as the MTV era and Cyndi smashed the music world with her big hits such as She Bops, Time After Time, All Through the Night, True Colors, The Goonies Are Good Enough and many more. It was her thin, girlish voice and gleefully ragtag appearance that have become one of the most distinctive images of the early '80s. This trademark led her not only to the top of the charts, but also to stardom. Up to know, she was still remembered as an icon.
love it !!!!!
