Southern TV Start-up Sequence (1950's & 60's) Southern Rhapsody

I couldn't agree more with your elegant words. I cannot beieve I've been able to see it again. Quite emotional really, Memories of a time long ago made real again.

If someone was able to travel back in time, then this Southern Television start up would be the next best thing. It transported me back to the early 60s and for fourty two seconds, I was a young boy again. It's funny what the brain can do when listing to music and images of the past. Wonderful posting. Thank you.

My jaw dropped. Memories so powerful they blew my socks off!! Incredible to find it. The Oast houses, stile and segulls are burned into my brain.

It was shown on a programme about former ITV regional companies.

I must have been around 5 or 6 years old when this start-up was used and I used to wait every day to see it, and after all these years it just blew me away and I remembered it so clearly. Thanks for posting this and more to the point how did you have it? Amazing!!

I love this clip, showing 'Southern' views - and Southern Rhapsody takes me back, to the glory days of ITV when TV companies made their own programmes, and no small production companies existed. Those were the days....

Aah! The lovely "Southern Rhapsody. It's hard to believe that it's been 25 years since Southern TV disappeared from our screens. A well loved TV station that made some brilliant programmes, especially those for children - Famous Five, Freewheelers, Flockton Flyer and Worzel Gummidge. It's a shame there's not many of these programmes out on DVD, or re-run on satellite.
