New historical epic about Dark times in Russia, when, in 1612, people's home guard drove away Polish conquerors from the Kremlin and the legendary tsar dynasty of Romanovs was established... After tsar Boris Godunov's death, his widow and young heir Fyodor were killed. Russia went into chaos...

What is bullshit? It's not bullshit - ask some Belorussians.

Yea i agree - Viva la Republic of Both Nations :) - btw - nice trailer, unfortunately, i hadn't seen this film - where can i get Polish or English version of it??
By Domen558 [Affiliate User] 1206632037Oh man, what a refreshing movie to see. After all, me being lithuanian and from the small country is always nice to know, that ages ago we ruled Eastern Europe and Russia with our Polish allies. To your knowledge, in the 15th century Lithuanian Grand Duchy was the strongest country in East, russian and ukrainian lands were shaking off our feet, unfortunately we made not able to hold those enormous lands, our nobles were too selfish and too greedy to form one united country

By BerylWz1996 [Affiliate User] 1206534266Lachi idu hahaha rozjebaliśmy tylko troche tych ruskich KIEDYŚ :(
By loukash88 [Affiliate User] 1206513632Ok, but whole thing is about in reality many commanders/nobles/soldiers were Belarussian or Ukrainian Cossacs, i`m sure they knowed Russian verry well.
Character of "hetman" in movie is composed from couple real persons with addition of some fiction. Dymitris, as well as Polish King or his son had quite big support, Duma elected Vladislav on Tzar, but his fanatic father didn`t wanted him to become orthodox, he as hopeing that will "unite" eastern and western catholicism.
Thanks, but "Ogniem i Mieczem" is worst from that trilogy (i mean movie).
If you want, i olso recommend "Popioły" (Ashes), "Saragossa Manuscript" (not historical, but brilliant movie), "Przedwiośnie", "Pan Tadeusz" etc.
I remember that "Alexander Newskyi" or "Ivan Grozny" were good movies, much better than "1612" i olso can`t await for "Taras Bulba", it might be great movie.
polish historical films rules, howewer. i remember when i was 8 i watched "pan wolodyjowski" and "ogniem i mieczem"
By mihanich [Affiliate User] 1206264760there only one Pole speaks russians, cuz he contacted with kniaginia and russian collaborators.
By elMadej [Affiliate User] 1206247719So, do you want some crusade to "covince" us? Altrough Newskyi protected himselve from Teuton invasion, it wasn`t him who destroyed that fanaticks...
By mikolajoskierko [Affiliate User] 1206215008Indeed, St. Alexander Yaroslavich was Orthodox Catholic. We (Orthodox) are the true Catholic Church!
By mikhail712 [Affiliate User] 1206212930Nah, you`r right that it`s not proper place for this talk, but there was told enough about it.
Only one thing to add: as you saw in movie 'vagabonds' defeated 'dazzling hussars', what was olso not verry accurate to battle of yellow waters, but anyway Cossacs won it.
Mhmhm... hard brainwash. Praise third "Rome" if you wish, i`ll stay with first.
P.S. funny that country which whiped 'crusaders' is one of most catholic in Europe. Ironic...
Pax
Since the time of St. Alexander Nevskii the Vatican and her proxy nations in the West have conspired against Holy Orthodox Russia. Papalism is the most insidious heretical cult on planet earth!
By mikhail712 [Affiliate User] 1206109861Yes, I know that, but somehow on the forefront are shown dazzling Polish hussars full in armour carrying lances. As for Cossacks, one can only see a handful of horsemen dressed as Cossacks. All the rest are shirtless bunch of vagabonds. The message is obvious. ;) But it seems to me, we diverted from this movie, so it's better to continue our discussion in "With Fire and Sword" video. :)
By bellumgero [Affiliate User] 1206106163Yes, they were old friends. In 1620 at the battle of Cecora B. Chmielnicki's father was killed and young B. Chmielnicki was taken prisoner. He spent a couple of years in the Crimean Khanate, learned the Tatar and Turkish languages and made friends with Tugay-bey. When the war broke out in 1648 Tugay-bey became his ally and helped him in numerous battles.
By bellumgero [Affiliate User] 1206105524I don`t think that Cossacs were lame warriors, but our commanders at the beginning for sure were verry bad, besides registred Cossacs swiched sides and joined Chmielnicki during battle of Yellow Waters, which made 14-15.000 against 4.000 (in Pl wiki are different numbers...). At Korsun Cossacs had olso superior number, 18.000 vs 6.000. At Pilwce commanders were just clows. Maybe you`r right, but it`s olso truth that many were just peasant volunteers.
By mikolajoskierko [Affiliate User] 1206103617Yes, Tatars look wrong and they`r olso speaking like Turks from Istambul. I didn`t knowed that Chmielnicki and Togay-bey were old friends. As for Cossacs i disagree again, Chmielnicki, Bohun or Cossac colonels looks fine, exception is army, but you should remember that plenty peasants joined Cossacs. Besides Polish nobelity olso looks not verry 'noble' except main characters. In my opinion actors should be another, Zamachowski as Wołodyjowski is one big mistake.
By mikolajoskierko [Affiliate User] 1206102134If the Cossacks were vagabonds they would never defeat the strong Polish army. Moreover, there were many victories and only one defeat-at Beresteczko. So this image of Zaporozhian Cossacks as a bunch of vagabonds is not convincing and not historically correct.
By bellumgero [Affiliate User] 1206101560Ok, sorry i only wanted to show how "Polish" were all that Hetmans, nobles etc. involed in it, but you`r right in this point.
