Paulo Freire was not a fanatist. He was an honest christian. He was a man full of hope and plenty of praxis. Something that it's difficult to say from any other man. He thinking is not childish, maybe you can understand it. The fact is that you really have to be a christian to be able to do what Freire did. To be with the ones who need hope and education. Childish is a person that doesn't get the reality can change more when the Gospel become praxis.

Note that he emphasized that he was VERY YOUNG at the time he tried to mix the unmixable. Of course, that was an unattainable goal, the mere wishful thinking of someone "very youthful, very young" as he puts it. But in the old age he persisted with his childish thinking. He didn't change. Paulo Freire was a fantasist, full of good intentions.

Christ is not about Christianity, just as, as Marx himself said "I am not a Marxist", Marx is not about Marxism. If you TRULY understand Christ's teaching and its HISTORICAL CONTEXT, then you would also ACCEPT Marx's thinking. Misunderstand both, you become an ideologue and not a humanist who is on the side of people. People say Marx said "religion..opium..", but read the whole passge and you'll realise he attacks religion that disguises the REAL SUFFERING IN THE WORLD. There's a world to win!

Christ is not about Christianity, just as, as Marx himself said "I am not a Marxist", Marx is not about Marxism. Marxism and Christianity are grossly incompatable. We can't perpetuate class warfare, nor diadactical materialism! Christ came to liberate souls not to set up governments!

Give me a break! Liberation Theology is nothing more than Marxist/Leninist doctrine masked as Catholic/Christian theology. Last I checked Communism didn't solve anyone's problems.
