Super typhoon Jangmi, the strongest Pacific storm in 13 years smashed Taiwan on 28th September 2008. I travelled to Hualien to cover the huge storm surge and battering waves.

    Great footage as usual James, The breakers had to be in excess of 100feet. I've seen my biggest waves in the western pacific. Back in 1991 on the south shore of Miyakojima when the center of supertyphoon Ruth was 350 miles to our SSE In the western pacific. You have a lot of areas where there are no islands to interfer with big surf in typhoon prone areas.
