Jay is singing live - everything else is canned. A lot of groups did it this way on tv back then - live lead vocal, canned music and backing vocals. If he was miming he wouldn't have gone flat like he did 2 or 3 times. He's not flat on the record.

What a hoot. Funny the things we never heard over the low fidelity of AM car radio. The guy runs out of wind before the end of a measure. But who knew for measures in those days.
