This one of two Leslie A-300 ship horn that I own. This came from a private horn collector from texas. These are popular on older big tugs and ferries. This is an older A-300 and it is all bronze. A rare horn compared to its steam counterpart the Leslie Steam Tyfon 300. I replaced 2 of the 3 bronze diaphragms that were cracked in the middle. The Bronze diaphragms were very very expensive! This thing had 5 different colored paint coats and a couple of toxic zinc chromate primer before restoration. The last coat of paint I had to strip off was a tought epoxy type paint. I then took the horn to a "Soda Blasting " facilty because of the toxic nature of the zinc chromate primer. It took the primer off without pitting the horns. Then the horn had to go through a few days of " pickling" in a home brewed chemical soak. It took me a total of 72 hours of manual labor not including the wait for the paint stripper to work or the "picking" process. First test at 200psi. This horn can handle up to 300psi of air!

  • Sorry bro but horns ...

Sorry bro but horns like this would be considered very hard to find or near impossible to find. The reason ? 12" diaphragm horns are usually special ordered. The company that made this horn no longer manufatures it(since the 1940's)

  • Hey wud sup.. well ...

Hey wud sup.. well so far i don't have a ship horn, but i think a regular 55 galons air compressor with the tank will do the job.. it always depend on the horn and its cubic air intake with reward of the presure regulator.. and for a hobby that would be cool.. cheers thanks for hitting by:)
