The agitators vandalised and torched more than two dozen vehicles and manhandled media personnel for defying the strike.

The activists vandalised and torched the motorcycle of Kantipur FM media persons --Krishna Poudel and Hem Subedi-- at Lalitpur. Likewise, they also torched the vehicle of state-owned Nepal Television and Image Channel.

Ambulance, press vehicles and tourist buses also were also affected by the strike.

Tourists were also not spared by the activists who treated them in an ill mannered way. Among the activists who vandalised the vehicles, the number of children has been overwhelming.
The activists vandalised and torched almost three dozens of vehicles in the capital. They barged into vegetable and fruit market in Kalimati and threw away the vegetables and vandalised half a dozen vehicles parked outside the vegetable market.

Meanwhile, the police have escorted some 200 vehicles stranded at Nagdunga into the capital.

Likewise, the shutdown has partially affected the life in Kavre, Dolakha, Sindhupalchowk, Nuwakot and Makwanpur districts.
The Unified CPN (Maoist), Newa Mukti Morcha, Newa Loktantrik Manch of UML and other organisations affiliated to the Newa body called the general shutdown demanding declaration of Newa State including 11 districts in the Kathmandu Valley and adjoining areas.

The committee has also demanded that Newari language be used as official language for government works and abrogation of the bill on urban development that the government is working on.
