Okay, "Wipeout" has been on three weeks. And yes, it's a well-produced show -- kudos to them for just getting it on the air (that's the hardest battle of all). Nonetheless, the comedic tone, the images, the games and the marketing of ABC's new summer series "Wipeout" -- remind a lot of people of MXC -- a show I helped create, write and exec produce. To see more opinions take a trip to Google -- http://www.google.com/search?q=MXC+Wipeout. For the record, we licensed the video from a 1980's Japanese show called Takeshi's Castle, which featured the games you see here as well as some sillier stuff. We totally re-edited the footage, combining games, mixing footage from different episodes, etc. and created a whole new format -- Most Extreme Elimination Challenge (MXC) -- in which some great crashes, smashes, spills and face plants were wrapped around incessant replays, splashy graphics, slick "whoosh" transitions, and inane commentary. We were a parody of all those over-produced network reality sports shows. Does Wipeout's incessant replays, splashy graphics and transitions, and inane commentary borrow heavily from MXC? You be the judge.

YouTube told me on July 14, the video would be restored. If it's still not available -- go to

P.S. -- If you got a couple spare bucks lying around, you can always buy an MXC DVD at http://astore.amazon.com/mxc-20/103-9363760-1001419
