you can believe and train all you want but if your training looks like this you can forget using it against any formidable opponent.Training methods and techniques matter a lot.Would you think thai boxing and points karate are equally effective if trained for the same amount of time?

all martial arts say they are practical and dont use their strength to "fight a bigger opponent", it matters how hard you train and how much you believe in your art in a fight situation that matter T_T

Loved the video, it could've done without the uber-pro-female bit at the end, as it makes no sense. A male S**king at Aikido, is equally good as a female S**king at Aikido, it's just logical.

the problem with people is that when they find an art they notice doesn't suit them they believe that the art "S**ks " ....
in all reality it means they 1. had a bad teacher, 2. did not dedicate enouf time to it, 3. may not have the "knack" for that art ...
I like karate...but aikido looks awsome and I have respect for it...*bow*

Steven Seagal must be a great teacher, he seems to be very focused on "fighting". I took Aikido classes for some time, but I didn't like the approach they had there. It was just a lot of dancing around, bowing and smiling all the time. But I am convinced that with the right approach and the right teacher, Aikido can be a very effective martial art.

I really like the statement at 0:26 "that when you stand on the mat with Take Sensei (and this goes for all the instructors that I have trained with)you know there is truth in Aikido" I have been within the sphere of a Shihan and I agree with the previous posts. If you think Aikido is a dance then you missed it! I have trained in Aikido for 2.5 years and still feel I am a beginner.Two years in Aikido is nothing! You have barely learned the vocabulary at that stage.

This is better Aikido randori than I've typically seen. I still think it is limited but for simple self defence situations would probably be highly effective.
