Reptile Feast

Yes, I've actually had reptiles since I was 3. But really got into it at the age of 8 owning more and more. And have been working at a reptile zoo for a while with various species of reptiles large and small, venomous, non-venomous.

I'm contantly monitoring him and like I said, if I saw a problem, I'd correct it and feed him outside his enclosure. I'm aware of their intelligence.
And I never return, trade or sell animals. I've been nailed by things far worse than a Tegu.

I don't mean to sound like a dick, but you've been caring for reptiles since you were 3?

Anyways, he wouldn't be aggressive outside the cage. These lizards are incredibly smart and learn routines. He'll begin to recognize your feeding scheduale/routine and your hands/tongs as feeding. So almost anytime you open the cage, he'll lunge out at them and bite. I'm really just trying to help. I've seen this problem too many times and in result the tegu was sold or worse, given back to a petstore.

If I was concerned about him developing an aggression towards me, I'd remove him.

Thanks for the advice, I appreciate it. I've been keeping reptiles for a very long time, too. 13 years. I take most of my animals that are prone to cage aggression out of their enclosures to feed but I keep the finickey eaters in. (For example the Boa and Tegu). He isn't a fantastic eater and I feed him inside. I monitor him at all time while feeding and he has never ingested any substrate. I let him free roam hours each day and he is EXTREMELY tame. I don't see any signs of aggression.

Great vid, the ONLY problem I see is feeding your Tegu in it's cage. Trust me, you don't want to do this. It will quickly associate you with food and become very cage aggressive. I had a bigger male before. Another problem I see with the tegu is feeding him on that bark. If he ingests it, he could and will get impaction. Most of the time, if not seen by a vet, is fatal.

Don't get offended, just offering advice from years of reptile experience.

Snakes are ok to feed in enclosures only if you make sue they don't associate you with food in anyway. Otherwise they may bite you a few times mistaking you with food. I currently have around 13 snakes. 12 of them I remove from their enclosures to feed them, 1 I don't. Only because it is a 10-12 foot Albino Burmese Python.
