The first build of Maersk Line's E-Series, the 11,000 TEU Emma Maersk as seen from the 4,300 TEU Maersk Missouri. This was shot about 50 nm west of Port Said in the Med Sea on 23 November, 2006 after both captains agreed to close into within 0.5 nm. Both of us were on our way to anchor at Port Said, Egypt before transiting the Suez Canal, early the next morning.
Also see my other videos for more of the Emma Maersk and other ship stuff.

These containers ware build at the Odense Steel Shipyard (OSS) in Munkebo Denmark. They only have 1 main engine of approx 105.000 Hp.
Can someone explain how this things float!

We only have 4 years left with this company guys.

MAERSK bought over P&O Nedlloyd and could not sustain. retrench P&O Nedlloyd staffs and now early this year 2008 April another RETRENCHMENT "STREAMLINE" (MSK sure has a theme or catch phrase for excercise they do) where more P&O staffs leave. THE FUTURE, Western Ops Center will close down soon and more staffs axed and move to Eastern Ops Center (now on 24hr shift work). HA
By des22969 [Affiliate User] 1216133585 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveIt does go through the Suez. I know this for sure because I followed it through there the day after I shot this video. Not to mention that its route is publicly published on the APM website.
The Suez Canal's limiting factor is usually the depth of the water. Length and beam are not yet an issue and the draft of a container ship (even this one) is not deep enough to worry about.
Also, currently, no U.S. port (e and w coast) could take a ship this size, mainly due to crane restrictions.
obviously, it's larger than yours..

Built in the Lind Shipyard in Denmark. Emma is 397m long, gross tonnage is 170,974 mt, hold 11,000 TEUs, and has a max speed of 25.6 kn.

3. Besides a crew of 13, they always have 15 cadets making the total compliment 28.
4. The specs of the ship are as follows

DWT 156907 tons
LOA 1303 ft

Max Draft 51 ft
Transports lots of toxic S**t made in China.
