Pit Bull Problem? I Don't Think So!

I have trained many dogs and NEVER had a pit bull probelm. The key with ANY dog is training. as for the people who abuse dogs I wish they got treated the same way so they knew frist hand how much hate hurts

i have 1 pit bull and it is the most nicest cuddliest cutest thing in the world and i think no 1 should hurt them in any way i think any 1 who abuses dogs are monsters and should go to prison pit bulls should not be judged by their breed

I meant: within the breed the variation of character traits will be so vast, that a breeder can not state what temper the breed has. In all working breeds, you can. You are right though, that a healthy dog will be easy to read and predict - but I'm not talking indiviual level, I'm talking about the population level. When it comes to unhealthy dogs they can just like some cats turn in an instant - but this has little to do with breed.

Only someone who doesn't understand canine behavior and body language will label a dog breed "unpredictable". A dog can't hide its next movements, you can read it in their body language.

i sooooooooooooo agree i have a pitbull and i had also a lot of dogs before that and the pitbull was the most loveing caring and loyal then all of the rest how the F**k can someone do that to such a good dog i hope the people who did that GO TO HELL!

With a single breeding trait, it is not a predictable breed. Thereby not suitable for (pardon me but...) weak "city-people-do-gooders". You need to be calm, knowledgeable and firm. A definitive leader. This is true with any dog. Opposed to the "Michael Vick":s, there's the "do-gooder-pit-bull-lover". They usually don't have much dog knowledge before - but they're outsiders projecting their situation on the misunderstood Pitbull-breed. It's like getting a child because the marriage doesn't work.

It is not the dogs fault - but you never see the "gangstas" with a papillon do you? You never see them with golden retrievers. It's the inherited aggressiveness (towards other dogs mostly) that appeal to the disturbed creeps you see them mimicked by their disciples - the rap "stars". Peddling the Pitbull-"Bad Boy accessory", just like Paris Hilton and her humiliated dog.
Why complicate things and get a dog bred in the 1800s to fight - that's it. Most get into these dogs for the wrong reasons.

The dog shown on 3:06.. you wouldn't happen to be able to tell me the story behind it or a link to where you got the picture? Someone I know on a forum is fostering a dog with eerily similar scars on his back that he got when he was a puppy, before he was dumped in the shelter.

I do believe "pit bulls" are among the most abused and mis-treated of all dog breeds.
I would love to see some breed specific data on abused dogs.

They keep BITE data; they should keep abuse data.
