Having dinner at Franca's last night I nearly fall off my chair when Mario Lanza starts singing Torna Surriento. Bravissimo. The place was electrified.

I have started listening to more Lanza recordings - he definitely had one fabulous voice, very agile and wow, could he ever hit the high notes!!! Yes, I know that he was a huge inspiration to Carreras, who saw him in the movie, "The Great Caruso" when he was a child, and after that point decided he wanted to be an opera singer also!

Agreed, friggin stunning.

If you're not familar with Lanza, he had, in my opinion, the best tenor voice in recording history. He was a big inspiration to many singer especially Carreras. I have a number of wonderful recordings of him posted which you might enjoy.

I don't know what I'd do if I heard that live. What a gift to be able to give people goosebumps- even after your dead lol.

Ok, Ok, so this is great! Wow, what a voice he had, I added this one to my favorites!
