Fender 2008 American Standard Tele

i have one of these guitars, a 2008. had some trouble with fret buzz with it. does fine as long as the action is high. go any lower than what the factory settings are and it rattles like crazy. might need a fret level job on mine maybe, who knows.

Thanks for the comments. I agree with everything you said there. I think the bridge tone is pretty decent too, but I almost never use it because the neck tone just sounds so good to my ears. It has a lot of character I think and a ton of harmonic overtones come through, especially on the higher frets. Some people don't like all the overtones, but as a matter of personal taste, I absolutely love it.

I noticed you get a nice "chimy" sound in the clean settings on all positions which is nice - the Fender amp model probably helps that along somewhat.

The bridge sound is pretty good, actually. I've always had reservations about it being to weak but it seems to have a good voice there.

Liking the mid and neck positions particularly - the Tele seems to come alive in those positions for me when clean and distorted.

there is an undercoat of shielding paint in the cavity.I don't recall about pg shielding, but shielding one would be very easy and the cost would be negligible.

I've read that the fact that the Tele has a chunk of bridge metal surrounding the bridge and a covered neck pup is why they omit less.

What do you know of the shielding that Fender apply in-house to the American Standards? Is there shielding in the pickup cavaties and on the back of the pickguard to you know?

My personal experience is that between a 2008 american standard strat and a 2008 american standard tele, the tele has FAR less 60hz noise; actually I barely notice it on the tele but it bothers me on the strat. I hesitate to give this opinion because it probably varies widely from instrument to instrument, but that is my personal experience.

What's your take on the cycle hum between the Tele and Strat? Is it safe to say there's more from the Strat?
