I'm sure in theory it might be able to, but I've never tried it... to crack WEP you have to have root privileges the whole time, while depending on what OS you have it in VirtulaBox in, you need to make sure that Backtrack can have full control of how your wireless card functions.

So either it will work or backtrack will fight with your main OS for control over the wireless cards function.

It's definitely possible on Ubuntu, but you must figure out what wireless chipset your computer has and find the appropriate drivers... Some cards are better than other for packet injection... Some good chipsets are Atheros and Orinoco... Intel Centrino cards do work (for example IPW3945 works with IPWRAW patched drivers) but I would stay clear from Intel and some Linksys cards if possible

i used the Aircrack-ng suite and yes they are available in Ubuntu's repositories, but you have to fight with admin rights to use it and i think you have to make sure you have the madwifi drivers, i tried doing in in ubuntu and it ended up frustrating me so thats why i do it in backtrack3

and what kinds of problems are you having with your wireless?

do you understand that BT3 isnt user friendly?
