Zipping past an unexpected Border Patrol checkpoint near Tecate, California, we lean into a banked turn pinned in fourth-gear with the tach hovering near redline on Kawasaki's best-selling sportbike. But it's not what you think. No border agents or any other government officials are scrambling to run us down with flashing lights blazing because, lucky for us, Kawasaki's best-selling sportbike is the Ninja 250R.

Can anyone comment on acceleration to ride out of trouble?
I ride a 2001 CB 250 for the fuel efficiency but I am at a huge disadvantage if I have to pull ahead fast from say 70kph (40mph).
I'm a city commuter and have gotten caught in the blind spot when passing on occasion with no option but to pull back and beep the horn. Looks like the ninja fuel effiency will suit me plus I expect the braking would be superior I just want to have the extra pick up as well (wishful thinking?).
Specs: from Kawasaki
0-60 mph (0-100 km/h) 5.75 sec
1/4 Mile 14.6 sec @ 88 mph
Maximum Speed 105 mph (170 km/h)
Max Horsepower 36 @ 11000 RPM (26 @ rear wheel)
Max Torque 18 Ft/Lbs @ 10000 RPM (14 @ rear wheel)
Fuel Efficiency 55-75 MPG
dude thats way off.
By Scavengertherealone [Affiliate User] 1210351775 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removemax speed about 110mph (thats really prob 100).
1/4 mile acceleration is 14.5 sec. I worked out that 19sec is 0-60 in 12sec, therefore it should be:
top speed 100mph
acceleration 9.2 sec (0-60mph)
What state do you ive in ?
I live in Mississippi and i pay 20 bucks a month and have a S**t load of tickets but i am a lot older than you.
Hey can you get me an estimate on how much it costs you per month on insurance for this bike?
Im 18 and never had tickets in my life, so I have a clean insurance record.
I bought the ninja 250r 3 months ago and have around 1,200 miles on it and i can tell you I LOVE IT...iv had no problem's with it at all, it handles better than my gsxr 600, cheaper on gas, and insurance.
This is a great bike for city riding and has no problem doing 80-90 on the interstate, top speed is around 110 and get 65-70 mpg.
I had nothing but complements on the bike since iv got it but people are finding them hard to get cuz they sell so fast.
No it's ok I believe you. I just thought they looked very nice.
Im 18 and im thinking about getting me a bike because it would be cheaper than driving my Jeep this summer. Plus it's fun.
So im looking at the Kawa250R seeing that Yamaha and Suzuki don't have 250's.
I did some research on the Hyosung GT250r and from what i read in the reviews people that have owned them said that they were unreliably and a piece of junk.
I have not owned or rode one so i cant say but i would go read the reviews on people that have before you buy one.
I ran mine at the track and this was the results, stock with 2 gallons of gas
0-60 mph 5.73
1/4 mile 13.8 92 mph.
what do you think about the hyosung GT250r?
By ZyVonic [Affiliate User] 1210171618 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveIve heard its around 5 secs. Im not totaly sure though.

Good luck with your riding.
Hope your wide-eyed'ness is enough to spare you from the stupidity of others.
where are you from what state
By skylinedrake [Affiliate User] 1210115999 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveI was wondering if anyone has any info on the 250 shortage. im waiting on one from my dealer. how long will this shortage last?
By tdn1986 [Affiliate User] 1210104205 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveIve been riding a Yamaha YBR-125 for 5-6 months now and I want to ask some people in the know: will this step up be to small? will I be wanting better acceleration soon after buying it?
Also, does anyone know if it really sounds like that? Sounds like a turbocharged hairdryer on the video lol.
If you ride a motorcycle, you're 37 times more likely to die in a crash than someone in a passenger car. Motorcycle deaths have more than doubled in the past 10 years, and motorcycle accidents kill more Americans each year than all the nation's much higher profile plane crashes, ship disasters, pipeline explosions and railway accidents combined
I do ride as cautious as possible always on the look out for dumb ass cagers
good protective gear can minimize injures or death in case of an accident.
What's wrong with the 250R? It's so fuel efficient, I make a round trip to school for 3 weeks on a $12 tank of gas. It still accelerates pretty quickly compared to a lot of cars; it gets to 60 just as fast as a 2004 Mustang GT. Also, where are do you need to go faster than 110 on the street? Sport motorcycles are about cornering and sport riding, not highway racing.

By monsterprocircuit [Affiliate User] 1209931972 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveI just wanted to ask you sportbike people something, don't you guys fear getting hit? I was out driving (my car) today, and I saw some of the worst driving by others. Now if I wasn't as cautious, I would have gotten hit, but even then I would at least be in a metal box.
I would like to ride, but just can't imagine putting myself at the mercy of others.
but a moped isnt street legal
By lildotty313 [Affiliate User] 1209912311 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removelawman502 do you even own a bike ?
I have a 01 gsxr 600 custom built that i run on the track its running 11.2 at 123 mph top speed is 176 but way to fast for the street.
Money is definitely not a problem.
I bought the ninja 250r because i dont need to go any faster than 110 on the street.
You said its a womans bike so maby if you ever get a woman you can buy her one.
(biginchsmallblock) the only thing i am trying to say is that if you buy a kaw 250r you should buy a 250 moped.
LOL
