Programmable do-it-yourself (DIY) fan from COOLJAG USA, available in January '08 from NowDirect.com (http://www.NowDirect.com)
Up to 16 characters (including high ASCII symbols) and up to 32 messages. Also shows the temperature and you can program the type of animation and speed of the animation (left-to-right, etc)
This fan comes in three sizes: 80, 92 and 120mm (this one shown is an 80mm) and also comes with USB cable (for programming) and software application on CD (for Windows).
note: the blank spot does not appear on the actual product (its a result of video recording and the fan speed) - what you actually see is an continuous message display with no blank spot.
Also note: the fan shows the temp in C, but the actual fans sold in North America will show the temp in F.
They're about $12 from NowDirect.
They come in 120, 90, and 80mm sizes.
how much is this, and this is 80mm right?

By shogunassassin [Affiliate User] 1200363185 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveThat's right, there is a USB jack on one side for the computer interface, and a four-pin connector for the fan itself. There's no notch: the human eye will see the message in whole (without the blank notch), but the camera catches that blank spot.

By shogunassassin [Affiliate User] 1200267561 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveActually the program just sets the message(s) in the memory of the fan itself (all hardware/firmware), so there's no active program running after you program the fan. The cable should be disconnected from the fan before you run it normally. The fan will run as it should - showing both the messages and the temp.

By shogunassassin [Affiliate User] 1200210499 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveDepends on the app... if you have a see-thru case, this works great (LAN parties, trade events etc or just for fun), or like you said, just mod the case and use a mesh or some acrylic cut grill. The circuit board LED blade sticks out just a little, but its something like a 1mm (0.1 cm?)
By chaostheorm [Affiliate User] 1200157176 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveIt plugs into your mobo via a USB port (if you have a front end port for your PC, you can plug it in there, or in the back of the motherboard where there are usually 2 to 4 USB ports).
By chaostheorm [Affiliate User] 1200156962 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removeplus...i have an antec 900, as im sure many people interested in such a fan would also have, does the circuit board led blade spinny thing lie flush with the mount or does it stick out, either way im getting it, i'll just have to cut out the mesh and mod my case a bit if it protrudes
By shogunassassin [Affiliate User] 1200098994 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removeif u dont mind my asking, just exactly what does it plug into, all i can find is it says usb, is that to mobo or something silly like running wires out the back, cool vid though ive been waiting for this since polotech announced the idea months ago, finally here woot mothafu**ah woot!!!
