For those traditional artists, this method can be used! Get some thick paper (Bristol?)... A good eraser (kneaded is fine). I found a really wide/blunt pencil some days ago at Blick's art supply store. You will need a razor blade in order to sharpen it, but it's not that bad because I was able to do it and I'm like... afraid of everything.

Here is the name:
Genera's Sketching Pencil 529-2b
(you can get a lighter pencil). This can be used for the preliminary sketch phase. It works for me because it's so wide (and light because it's wide). For a sketch it gives me more control over my strokes opposed to a narrower pencil. Thinner pencils are used when I have a definite idea of what I want to draw.

  • Yeahhh I don't like ...

Yeahhh I don't like doing the (arm and leg) joints as a skeleton either. I think for a beginner (yay me)it does not work out too well because they would not flesh it out properly.

    I feel so special ^w^
I am familiar with that procedure, but I didn't realize that the line represented one side of the arm. I was using it as a skeleton, which let me tell you, does not help unless you are extremely gifted. @_@

You motivate me.. Haha, well.. I'm sure you're familiar with the stickfigure and geometric shape procedure... You can do this here (I always had trouble with those). I noticed that it's easier to draw the stickfigure but the lines for the arm would represent the back side of the arm (if that makes sense) so you wouldn't have to worry about the shape of the body.
