  • 'I will take almost ...

'I will take almost eternity for the radioactive waste to decay and that waste will still be here long after the ozone layer has gone.'

The Greenpeace view: 'let me go to a remote location that is off limits and filled with radioactive material (which has been placed in area that will not affect anyone) just to be exposed so that I can complain, protest and not give any REALISTIC solutions.' 'However if it isn't material that can harm me...well then I guess I will not visit the crummy area.'

  • CrudeDude, thank ...

CrudeDude, thank you for your ignorant response. HOWEVER, you failed to address any of the things I said (any of which Pat Moore would probably agree with). Your way of looking at things is a pretty typical lazy American attitude which is destroying this country from the inside out. Instead of offering facts or solutions you simply complain and resort to name-calling. Go watch some more Jerry Springer and leave the real discussions to the people willing to use their brains. Thank you sir.

  • There is not simply ...

There is not simply one guy at the controls. There is a team working each reactor, and they did not run away when things went wrong. People in the plant did not run away instead of trying to stop the runaway reaction. That part of the video is totally false, and its trying to deceive people.

  • Greenpeace is a ...

Greenpeace is a radicalist organization that does not look at the facts. O.K. then Greenpeace, lets just burn natural gas and oil instead. Hey we wont get another Chernobyl! But wait! Oh my gosh, what about the long term pollution. At least the radioactive material will decay, but we can not grow another ozone layer.

  • kayhaus, I am not ...

kayhaus, I am not sure where you get some of your figures from. Radium-226 is one component of spent nuclear fuel with a half life of 1600 years. I think is immaterial that some products decay relatively quickly. I would not advocate the use of PV in the UK -but in India there is great potential. Silicon is the main raw material used in PV construction and is entirely benign. Modern PVs do not contain cadmium and waste chemicals are minimal compared to emissions from conventional sources.
