I hope you don't mind if I give a reaction on this, but sandeep is actually right about the counting, because he notices how many counts the beat is, which is very important when you're learning to play. Like if you listen to a song, and know how to count for the song (forgive me if I explain in a bad english way) then you know what beat you can play with it, because it is within the same bounds.. you're right about how it repeats, but that has nothing to do with keeping the time as he explains.
