My perspective is similar to yours, hellomate639. I have read the Urantia Book from cover to cover twice and nearly so a third time. There is much, especially in the science related material which doesn't quite add up. Indeed, TUB doesn't even follow it's own stated limitations of revelation very well when it comes to the science related material. Of course, the science and cosmology aspect of TUB is "uninspired" and subject to change according to the book itself.

the correct gospel of Jesus is contained in the urantia book. if it is the "essence" and "hope" of "all religions".. then how can it not be a religion itself?

"Mr. Boston's Mixed Drink Guide" could be a religious text, if you put it at the center of your religion. The UB was NOT meant to be the center of a religion, that's why I say it is not a religious text. It is NOT a "Word of God". Just the fact that it talks about God doesn't make it religious. With the username: "thinkjesus" it is likely you will argue against what I'm saying. That's ok.

Definitely not "better". But, it is an profound expansion of the information contained in the Bible. There is even a 'paramony' that tells the similarities between the two books. Also, the UB is not a religious text. You can think of it as 'cosmic philosophy'.

I have been interested in this for little bit. How is this better than the bible ??

I do happen to know that the book was edited by PEOPLE, therefore I MUST rely on intuition to tell what is true and what isn't. My intuition tells me its definitely not 100% true, though I beleve around 90-95% is true.

Also not with a group. But after years of study in many different areas, my gut tells me this book is ALL true. Frankly, an epochal revelation as it claims.

I'm also not affiliated with any organization. I can related to your intuitions. Just finished the audio version of the UB, nice alternate way to study--especially the Jesus Papers--POWERFUL.

I must say, I'm not really part of a Urantia group. I choose to read and interpret the book. I also rely strongly on my intuition to tell me what is true and not true throughout the book. I have very strong gut feelings telling me that the parts about Jesus are true. Where I don't feel a whole lot is in the sciences section, though beautifully written, I don't feel it from there.

Oh yes! It would be hard to comb through such complexity here. There is also a very interesting history behind the reason WHY there are so many publishers now. I suggest reading "A History of the Urantia Papers: Books: Larry Mullins and Meredith Justin Sprunger," at Amazon. Bear in mind that the Uranita Foundation DID edit the book over several editions. Some say this changed the meaning in certain sections.

Its the same book, are there any different ideas amongst the groups?

Several publishers have printed the UB. The Urantia Foundation and Uversa Press are two. There are other electronically published versions. They are also identical textually, as you suggest.

I don't think that I indicated in any way that their were different VERSIONS of the UB.

What organization is there other than the one that published it? lol...

And what ideas differ from one to another? Its a book with all the ideas written, and with no need for interpretation, except into simpler vocabulary.

Thanks for posting such a positive message. Unity isn't the same as uniformity, thank God. When we put the Father's will first, we can find unity with all who seek God, regardless if we accept everything they believe or not. Everything we don't get here will be remedied in the next world we live in. (or in the next, or however many it takes (-;)

Personally my hope is for the Urantia Foundation and Urantia Fellowship to come back together (as they seem to be). Gabe--I'm not behind his participation but would welcome seeing any of his followers leave and join in the more general UB community. Good question.

UBRON allows its site to be used as a podium for hate speech against all Arabs, Muslims, and Islam under the specious argument that all those who post should moderate themselves. Kind of like allowing someone to come into your home and call your neighbor that is there too by some racial slur and to attack them with hate speech and then turn to one's poor guest and say, "Sorry, it is up to your attacker to govern himself, I can't do anything."

Nice anagram! I have a question. Anyone can pick a book up and read it. Take for example Gabriel of Sedona example. He has a cult forming around the Urantia Book. Do you think that Urantia Book readers should seek unity (whaterver that means) with Gabriel of Sedona?

The Urantia Book was "transmitted" via a number of different techniques by various types of beings--non were "aliens". These beings were SUPERMORTAL (like "angels").

The book is extremely well-written, logical and multi-layered. The concepts can be difficult to comprehend sometimes, but the writing is fairly straight forward.

For a good objective history you can read "A History of the Urantia Papers" by Larry Mullins. Thanks for watching!
