Completely wrong. Our dojo rarely takes place in tournaments. If you took Goju Ryu then maybe you would realize it's actual use.

You are misinformed, Of course the nunchaku has something to do with Goju. Goju is a direct descendant of the original Te of Okinawa. Where do you think the nunchaku came from ...... JAPAN??????

Actually most traditional Goju Ryu dojo practice Kobudo (weapons). And yes the Nunchaku are definately a traditional weapon. Other than a few hick-ups in his kata, it is a fairly good demo of actual strikes with the weapon. You will notice he is using actual wooden nunchaku with rope, not some hokey Bruce Lee chain, or flashy chrome, and no baton twirling TKD moves here.. maybe that is what confused you.

i believe the goju practitioners were exposed to the nunchaku for sometime because it was one of the okinawan farm impliments developed into a weapon.

I know thats like not even goju ryu thats like kobudo which is all weapons like nunchaku, bo, tonfa and sai

The Goju world in Kansas is sadly totally corrupt and run by a money hungry selfish man. I lost 6 years of my time and countless dollars before waking up to the truth of Sam. Beware Kansas MA students!

Sorry, but you've been misinformed. There are 12 original empty hand kata in Goju Ryu. Kobudo, however, is the study of the old Okinawan weaponry. There are several ryu-ha (syles or associations) that specifically teach these. Kobudo should NOT get morphed into any empty hand ryu-ha, even though some dojo teach both.

As for the kata's you mention above they are either from Taira Shinken or Matayoshi kobudo. Matayoshi's is called Shishi no Kon and in the Taira lineage this is pronounced Soeishi no Kon. Please refer to Ryukyu Kobudo's homesite for more info.
