  • I have trained, and ...

I have trained, and still do, in Kendo (Japanese Fencing) and Jeet Kune Do. Kendo is point based, and it is true that a single, well placed strike can finish off your opponent. Jeet Kune Do on the other hand is street based, and also teaches to recover from hits, absorb hits. because a fight is not over till one person proves more persistent. So I think it can be seen from both sides. Both are usefull. In the end, i truly do believe these two would whoops all our asses. ;)

  • Well, guess what ...

Well, guess what dumbass, in real life, one "tag" on your face is all they need to send you home with a broken jaw and self-esteem.
Point is, if you actually hit in competition, it's a penalty, so not only do you have to concentrate on hitting, you have to concentrate on NOT touching. Imagine in real life when the second restriction is removed...

I see you are making your point about the rule. It is true that sundome karate doesn't have the factors for pain and taking the hits. When those factors are included, it will certainly affect who will win.

Would you prefer we knock each other's teeth out in sport karate? I'm quite certain that in real "sparring" by your definition either of these champions would demolish you.

Nakedhenry is funny. Too amusing...actually. Learn to separate illusion from reality than try to understand the skill that these men have demonstrated.

I met Sensei Murakami and Sensei Nobuaki, remarkable men, true karatekas.

When I was training in Tokyo Murakami was the chief instructor at the SKIF Honbu dojo. Nobuaki is his junior. These two must surely spar together quiet often. What I like the most is the mutual respect between these two great exponents, a real Kohai/Sempai relationship. GREAT VIDEO
