In this tutorial I will quickly show you how you can create an "Old Film" style effect using only the effects included with After Effects CS3/7.0.

Other things you could do to sell this effect is add another Adjustment Layer and fade light and contrast over time or blur parts of the video in places.

Go to: Edit/ ...
Go to: Edit/Preferences/User Interface Colors and change the "User Brightness" slider. I prefer it dark since it's easier on the eye.
